Hermitage Harriers look to offer running opportunities, across a variety of terrain, for established, part-time and new runners in the community of North West Leicestershire.

Hermitage Harriers will cater for runners of all abilities and ensure we fulfil the needs of both serious/competitive runners and fun/social runners.

Hermitage Harriers look to host a local race, on an at least annual basis, within North West Leicestershire to raise the running/sports and fitness/wellbeing profile in our local community.

Hermitage Harriers offer a vibrant social scene for our members, friends & families - incorporating a wide range of activities and events throughout the year.

Club Vision

Membership Levels

Through recruitment initiatives and increased awareness of what Hermitage Harriers R.C. can offer new/would-be runners - we have the following goals for future membership:

by the end of March 2011 ... 100+ members
by the end of March 2012 ... 125 members
by the end of March 2015 ... 150 members and a junior section

Hermitage Harriers to encourage a number of members to take leadership courses/level 1 courses thereby building for the future of Hermitage Harriers R.C. and establishing a foundation of experienced and qualified coaches/leaders.

By the end of December 2010 we aim to have 4 level 1 coaches and at least 10 members who have completed a leadership course. Further qualifications will be explored.

Junior section

By the end of December 2014 Hermitage Harriers R.C. will look to establish a formal junior section addressing all governance requirements. Membership may start with existing adult members children but will not exclude un-connected juniors. There are kids fun runs attached to many races in which we already compete and we also have easy access to junior races held within the Derby Runner Cross Country League and track races hosted by Charnwood A.C. Tapping into these 3 resources will allow our new junior section to compete against their peers and flourish.

Hermitage Harriers will look to field teams and compete in local, county, regional & national leagues/events. Hermitage Harriers R.C. should look to become recognised as one of the top running clubs in Leicestershire in terms of both individual/team performances and entry levels within race fields.

Hermitage 10K/Foremark X/C (or other Annual Race)

Our race(s) should become a permanent fixture on the local athletics calendar. To be staged at least annually and on an at least break-even basis. To grow in field-size to a level deemed both successful and safe for runners/marshals/spectators.
